About Our School

Irvington Community School Inc. opened in 2002 as one of Indiana’s first public charter schools. ICS offers music, art, and physical education classes weekly if not daily. Our college-preparatory and career-readiness approach provides a foundation for students to build a successful post-secondary experience. the middle and high schools featuring 1:1 computing, and a blended learning model at the elementary school. The ICS mission is to provide a small, safe learning community where respectful behaviors are modeled and expected offer a college-prep, career-readiness curriculum that focuses on developing a strong work ethic and creative thinking prepare all students for post-secondary success and develop responsible citizens through involvement in service learning and community engagement for the betterment of local and global communities. ICS partners with a number of nonprofit organizations, such as the YMCA (before- and after-care services) and Community Health Network (school nursing, social work, and athletic trainer services). Complementing our academic offerings, IPA students take part in a formative service learning program that involves engagement with Gleaners Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Indy Urban Acres, and the Indiana Blood Center.
